Application Portfolio Management Consulting

To effectively support your organization, applications must provide the functions required by the activities that make up your business processes. Having worked with manufacturers for many years, MCTI has prepared process maps defining essential manufacturing business processes. Our analysis of your processes and application portfolio will include the following:

  • Compare your processes to a master list.
  • Identify the applications currently in use to support these processes.
  • Identify missing applications.
  • Provide suggestions for improvement.

Upon the completion of the consulting engagement, MCTI will provide the client with a deliverable including the following:

  1. Company's mission, goals and objectives.
  2. Process versus applications matrix.
  3. Process Improvement recommendations.
  4. Application Improvement recommendations.
  5. Suggested next steps.

A typical engagement may last two to four weeks. The following steps typically occur:

  1. Day one: plant tour and introduction to production control, engineering, logistics and inventory control managers.
  2. Day 2-3: Interview approx. 4 key leaders of production control, engineering, logistics and inventory control managers.
  3. Day 4: Workshop to review process matrix, issues and concerns.
  4. Day 5: Interview application support team to identify all applications used.
  5. Day 6-7: Random interviews to understand effectiveness of applications.
  6. Day 8: Workshop to review process versus application matrix.
  7. Day 9-10: Document and present findings.
