Generic Bill of Material Custom Solutions

A Generic Bill of Material is a rules based method used to define all the items needed to build a product including:

  • Product Family
  • Modules
  • Positions in the product
  • Parts and quantities with unit of measure
  • Part class, type and descriptions
  • Process Instructions and process time
  • Production Line and MRP Area
  • Linefeed Locations
  • Deliver Route
  • Deliver Methods (I.e. KANBAN, Sequenced, Direct,..)
  • Dock Doors and Staging Locations
  • Drawings
  • Broadcast codes
  • Tester Programs
  • PLC Programs
  • Effective Dates
  • Code rules used to select the correct positions

With one generic bill of material, all variants of a product can be produced from a configured sales order. By using actual customer demand, not sales forecasts, custom bills of material can be regenerated on demand when needed to calculate all required down stream pull signals. This process insures a continuous flow of material at the lowest inventory levels possible.

By utilizing the FM Product Costing model, the cost of different variants of product can be compared to insure target costs are met. Also, the model insures the set sales price produces the desired profits.
