Malcomb Baldridge Award The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Improvement Act of 1987 was signed by President Reagan on August 20, 1987. The Act establishes an annual U.S. National Quality Award. Its purpose is to promote quality awareness and to publicize successful quality strategies. The Secretary of Commerce and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (formerly the National Bureau of Standards) provide the leadership and management, and the private sector provides the administration, the examiners, oversight, and funding of the Award Program.

National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences is a not-for-profit collaborative research consortium of North American corporations. Supply Chain Council The Supply Chain Operations Reference-model (SCOR) enables a "next generation" of supply-chain management. Supply-Chain Council (SCC) members support SCOR as the standard process reference model for communicating supply-chain management practices across companies. SCOR provides a common supply-chain framework, standard terminology, common metrics with associated benchmarks, and best practices; and can be used as a common model for evaluating, positioning, and implementing supply-chain application software. SCOR can also be used by SCC members, suppliers, and customers to build inter-enterprise integrated supply chains. The SCC works collectively to maintain and communicate SCOR. The council consists of many of the leading industrial companies, logistics and distribution companies, and supply-chain application software companies.
