Steps to Creating an effective Project Team

  1. Define a core team for the organization comprised of process owners.
  2. Define a Steering Committee comprised of senior managers to conduct project reviews.
  3. Have each department streamline their processes and document them in a process modeling tool.
  4. Define key performance measurements for each process.
  5. Have the Steering Committee approve the process requirements and measurements.
  6. Identify process improvement activities.
  7. Document the To-Be processes and quantify the benefits.
  8. Determine the cost of implementing process improvements and calculate a return on investment (ROI).
  9. Prioritize process improvement activities based on ROI.
  10. Insure high priorities are in line with the company's mission, goals, strategy and objectives.
  11. Implement process improvements.
  12. Measure results.
  13. Repeat and continuously improve this process.
